Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez wanted by Manchester City?

Alexis Sanchez is reportedly being targeted by Manchester City, who plan to make a move for the Chile international should contract talks with the Gunners break down, according to The Express.

Sanchez's current deal expires in the summer of 2018 and manager Arsene Wenger has already admitted that the club are set to discuss a new contract for the 27-year-old, along with Mesut Ozil, who has proven a huge success at the Emirates since his move from Barcelona in 2014. The odds have been cut on Alexis signing a new deal at Emirates, a bet that can be placed with a bet365 bonus code.

The forward has scored 46 goals in 100 appearances for the Gunners, and Wenger is desperate to keep hold of the Chilean who has already bagged four goals this season including the crucial equaliser against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League in midweek and two goals against Hull City on Saturday.

The Express reports that Sanchez wants £200,000-per-week to stay at the Emirates, along with evidence that the Gunners will challenge for major honours this season, adding that that his advisers will also insist on a release clause being inserted into any new deal.

Should Sanchez fail to agree a new deal Pep Guardiola's side are willing to make their move. The Spaniard knows the forward well, having signed him for Barcelona from Udinese back in 2011. Certainly City have the resources to make such a move, although with the club already possessing plenty of attacking options and having scored 15 goals in their first five Premier League games they are certainly not lacking in firepower up front.

Sanchez's future at Arsenal has been the subject of much speculation this week and he came in for criticism from his manager after the Hull victory, despite scoring twice, for taking a penalty instead of Santi Cazorla. However, Sanchez's celebrations at the KCOM Stadium, particularly running to the away fans and clutching the badge on his shirt, after his goals are certainly not the look of a man who wants away from the Emirates.
