Jason Kenny revels in 'surprise' Team GB win

Great Britain's Jason Kenny suggests that he was surprised to win the team sprint ahead of New Zealand.

Great Britain's Jason Kenny has suggested that he did not expect to out-ride New Zealand in the final of the team sprint.

Kenny, Philip Hindes and Callum Skinner produced a stunning ride to edge out the favourites by just over a tenth of a second and Kenny - who claimed his fourth Olympic gold medal - has admitted that he is delighted to have caused an upset in the velodrome.

The 28-year-old told BBC Sport: "I am really happy. We were outsiders but it was great to all come together and be on the right side of the close result.

"The Kiwis were really fast in the semi and to be honest I thought we were relying on them falling to bits, but they didn't and we still beat them."

Team GB have now won the team sprint at the last three Olympic Games.
