Dame Sarah Storey's Podium Ambition team turn professional

Dame Sarah Storey's Podium Ambition road cycling team is to turn professional for the 2016 Women's World Tour.

Dame Sarah Storey's Podium Ambition road cycling team will turn professional for next year's Women's World Tour.

The six-time Paralympic champion will feature alongside Joanna Rowsell Shand and Katie Archibald in the team's new-look lineup for 2016.

"Aspiring young women who have ambitions to be road professionals in the future will now be able to see the world's best here in the UK," BBC Sport quotes Storey as saying.

"This is a huge positive as we look to further develop women's cycling in Britain."

Podium Ambition began life as Pearl Izumi Sports Tours International in 2014, with Storey among its founder members.

The 37-year-old's husband Barney serves as its team principle.
