Joe Root hits 93 as England beat Sri Lanka 3-0 in one-day international series

Joe Root struck a measured 93 as England complete their series win over Sri Lanka with a 122-run victory in the fifth one-day international at Cardiff.

England have completed their series win over Sri Lanka with a comprehensive 122-run victory in the fifth one-day international in Cardiff, as Joe Root top scored with 93.

The 25-year-old's 106-ball innings, coupled with Jos Buttler's 70 from 45 deliveries and James Vince's 51 in his first ODI innings, saw the hosts post 324-7 from their 50 overs following some early-morning rain.

Root's Yorkshire teammates David Willey (4-34), Liam Plunkett (3-44) and Adil Rashid (2-41) then bundled the tourists out for 202 in 42.4 overs to leave them winless over England in the Test and ODI portions of their tour.

The teams will meet one last time in this series, for the Twenty20 at Southampton on Tuesday.
