Sam Northeast takes Kent captaincy

Batsman Sam Northeast takes over from Rob Key as captain of Kent for the 2016 campaign.

Kent have appointed Sam Northeast as the county's new captain for the 2016 season.

The 25-year-old, who was the vice-skipper this year, has replaced Rob Key in the position.

"It's a great honour to become club captain of a team I've supported from a young age and follow in the footsteps of some great captains," he told the club's official website.

"Hopefully the future is bright for Kent and I can help bring some silverware back to the club."

Northeast scored 2,007 runs over all formats of the game in 2015.
