Nick Gubbins extends Middlesex contract

Opening batsman Nick Gubbins extends his contract at Lord's with Middlesex until the end of the 2018 season.

Middlesex have announced that Nick Gubbins has signed a new contract with the club.

The 21-year-old opener, who played in all formats of the game last season, has committed himself to Lord's until 2018.

"I am delighted to have extended my contract with Middlesex for a further three years. Having represented the club since I was 14 years old it's a dream come true to play at Lord's and call it home," he told the club's official website.

"I'm loving my time here and look forward to helping the club win lots of trophies in the year to come. We have a fantastic squad here and it's great to be part of it."

Director of cricket Angus Fraser added: "I am delighted Nick has signed a new deal with Middlesex CCC. His performances in 2015 merit the extension and, but for an unfortunate injury, he would have played a near full season of county cricket. During 2015 Nick showed the ability to thrive in all forms of the game."

"We believe Nick is an exciting talent and we know he has an excellent work ethic. The two qualities give him a great chance of having a long and distinguished career in cricket."

Gubbins has scored 747 runs at an average of 24.90 from his 17 first-class appearances.
