India see off New Zealand in Mohali

India have defeated New Zealand by seven wickets in Mohali to take a 2-1 lead in the one-day international series.

Virat Kohli scored a hundred in a run-chase to chalk up an unbeaten 154, as the hosts hit their target of 286.

Kohli, who achieved his 26th ODI century during the match, shared a 151-run stand with skipper MS Dhoni as India pulled off victory with 10 balls to spare.

The Kiwis managed to recover from a shaky start as Tom Latham and James Neesham overcame middle-order batting failures to help New Zealand build up their total.

However, the writing was very much on the wall by the 48th over when a flurry of late boundaries against Trent Boult left India with just one more run to achieve.

The Kiwis could draw level in the five-match series on October 26 when the sides meet at Ranchi.
