Ravichandran Ashwin, Wriddhiman Saha rescue India against West Indies

Ravichandran Ashwin and Wriddhiman Saha's unbeaten 108-run partnership spares India's blushes in the first day of the third Test against the West Indies.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Wriddhiman Saha's unbeaten 108-run partnership has spared India's blushes in the first day of the third Test against the West Indies.

The tourists lost their top order within the first 50 overs of the first day's play in St Lucia, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli falling by the wayside in quick succession.

KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane put up a 58-run partnership, but the former was dismissed by Roston Chase just after scoring his half-century.

Rahane held down the fort with a lengthy yet low scoring partnership with Ashwin, but Chase struck again and took him out also.

Ashwin and Saha pushed hard towards the end as the tourists fought back, taking advantage of the new ball to bring the score up to 234-5.

Victory in the third Test will give India a series win with Trinidad remaining.
