India complete series whitewash over New Zealand

India thrash New Zealand by 321 runs to complete a 3-0 series whitewash on day four of the final Test at Indore.

India have completed a series whitewash over New Zealand courtesy of an emphatic 321-run victory in their final Test at Indore.

The hosts went into day four having already sealed the three-match series, and New Zealand's hopes of avoiding the whitewash looked bleak as they began the day trailing by 276 runs.

India, led by Cheteshwar Pujara (101*) and Gautam Gambhir (50), quickly added to that lead before eventually declaring on 216-3 in their second innings.

That left the tourists with a mammoth target of 475 to win, and they never looked like troubling India as Ravi Ashwin starred with the ball.

Ashwin, who took six wickets in the first innings, finished with figures of 7-59 as New Zealand were bowled all out for 153.

Ross Taylor (32) was the top scorer for the tourists, who lost their last seven wickets for just 51 runs as India cruised to a comfortable victory.

The two teams will now turn their attention to a five-match ODI series, which begins in Dharamsala on Sunday.
