New date for Terry Flanagan, Derry Mathews world title clash

An injury to WBO lightweight champion Terry Flanagan sees his clash with Derry Mathews put back to March 12.

WBO lightweight champion Terry Flanagan has been forced to delay his showdown with Derry Mathews due to injury.

The two North-West fighters had been scheduled to meet at Liverpool's Echo Arena on February 13, but Flanagan has withdrawn from that date due to tendonitis in his left foot.

However, a new date of March 12 has already been arranged by promoter Frank Warren, with the bout still taking place at the same venue.

Flanagan is undefeated in 29 professional fights, while Mathews has 38 victories to his name in 49 outings.
