British boxer Tyson Fury misses press conference after 'car breaks down'

Tyson Fury fails to turn up to a press conference promoting his rematch with Wladimir Klitschko because his car broke down, according to his manager Mick Hennessey.

Tyson Fury failed to show up to a press conference to promote his rematch with Wladimir Klitschko this afternoon because his car broke down, according to the boxer's manager Mick Hennessey.

The 28-year-old will take on Klitschko for the second time in 11 months in a rematch, which was triggered by the Ukrainian after he lost his WBA Super, WBO and IBF belts in Dusseldorf.

Last week, it was confirmed that the pair will fight on October 29 - a bout that was postponed by Fury due to a sprained ankle.

Today, Fury was scheduled to face the media, but he did not turn up amid claims that his hearing with the independent National Anti-Doping Panel will be held on a date in November.

Frank Warren of TV channel BoxNation told reporters: "Tyson's not here. His car broke down on the way down, we've just found out, so he's stuck somewhere on the M6. That is a problem for us - apologies to everybody, to K2 and Wladimir.

"Mr Flint, who is the head of the tribunal, has ruled that the fight will go ahead and the hearing will take place afterwards, so there is no danger of that stopping the fight happening. There is no way this fight does not happen unless, God forbid, one of them gets an injury."

Hennessey insisted that Fury's camp were not 'making up' the reasons behind the boxer's no-show.
