British duo qualify for 1,500m semi

Team GB duo Ross Murray and Andy Baddeley have qualified for the 1.500m semi-final by finishing fourth and sixth in their respective heats this evening.

Murray ran a smart race to move into third place coming into the home straight, but Kenya's Asbel Kiprop came back to push the Brit back into fourth.

With the top six progressing into the semi-final, however, Murray's spot was comfortably booked as he crossed the line in a time of 3:36.74.

Algeria's Taoufik Makhloufi won the first race by some distance, finishing in a time of 3:35.15, while Ethiopa's Mekonnen Gebremedhin qualified in second place.

Baddeley, meanwhile, scraped into the final qualification spot on his race with a time of 3.40.34.
