Russia's anti-doping chief Ramil Khabriev resigns amid cheating scandal

Russia's anti-doping chief resigns

The Russian Sports Ministry has announced that the director general of the country's anti-doping agency, Ramil Khabriev, has resigned.

The RUSADA chief has stepped down following a report from the World Anti-Doping Agency commission, which alleged that there has been widespread doping and cover-ups within Russian athletics.

The ministry announced that Khabriev handed over his resignation at a meeting that was attended by RUSADA's founders.

This week, a WADA delegation visited the department to inform them that drug testing should continue during Russian Athletics' suspension from international competition.
