Usain Bolt 'to lose Olympic gold medal after teammate failed drugs test'

Usain Bolt could lose one of his six Olympic gold medals after Jamaican relay teammate Nesta Carter reportedly retrospectively failed a drugs test from the Beijing Games.

Usain Bolt could be in danger of losing one of his six Olympic gold medals after a teammate allegedly failed a drugs test taken at the Beijing Games.

Nesta Carter, who was part of the Jamaican relay team that stormed to gold in Beijing, has been named by the Jamaica Gleaner newspaper as one of the athletes to have retrospectively failed a drugs test.

The report claims that the sprinter's re-examined 'A' samples showed an adverse result, although any sanctions will be put on hold until the results of the 'B' samples are released.

The International Olympic Committee has re-tested 454 samples from the 2008 Olympics, with 31 of the 'A' samples turning out to be positive.

Carter, whose personal best 100m time of 9.78s ranks him as the sixth-fastest man in history, also won relay gold at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2011, 2013 and 2015 World Championships, all alongside Bolt.
