Sheamus crowned new United States champion on 'RAW'

Sheamus becomes the new WWE United States champion, ending Dean Ambrose's 351-day reign by winning a 20-man battle royal to kick off Monday's RAW.

Sheamus has become the new WWE United States champion by winning a 20-man battle royal on Monday's RAW to end Dean Ambrose's 351-day reign.

Ambrose was made to defend his strap against 19 other superstars to start the show as Chief Operating Officer Triple H continues to punish The Shield members for their rebellion against The Authority.

Former world champions Mark Henry, Big Show and Dolph Ziggler were among those eliminated before Ambrose lifted Jack Swagger over the top rope to leave just him and Sheamus inside the ring.

'The Celtic Warrior' hit the Brogue Kick on 'The Hound of Justice', leaving him helpless to counter being thrown to the mat below as Sheamus won his second US title, but first since 2011.

The Irish brawler, who has been lacking direction since returning from a long-term injury at the Royal Rumble in January, is reportedly being lined up for a heel turn in the coming weeks.
