'Stone Cold' Steve Austin backs Daniel Bryan for WWE title run

'Stone Cold' Steve Austin backs Daniel Bryan for a run with the WWE Heavyweight title.

'Stone Cold' Steve Austin has backed claims for Daniel Bryan to be given a run with the WWE title.

Bryan has established himself as one of the most popular stars in the company in recent months, but many fans have been left frustrated by storylines that have continued to derail the grappler's title chances.

However, Austin, who himself is a former six-time WWE champion, believes that Bryan will eventually get his run with the belt.

He told the Ross Report podcast: "I was at Raw [on Monday] and I saw the signs and the reaction this cat gets. Hell no I wouldn't have a problem putting the [title] on him, let him run with it.

"I think [WWE are] doing a slowburn [storyline] with him. They'll make him wait for that big payoff and I think the kid truly is over [with the fans].

"I've got no problems with putting the title on that cat."

Bryan is expected to be part of Wrestlemania XXX in April.
