Australia comfortably beat Team GB

The women's Team GB water polo team have been comprehensively beaten 16-3 by Australia in London.

A win was vital for the home crowd favourites but Australia quickly took control in the pool with two early goals.

Despite two replies from Great Britain before the half-time interval, the Australians looked in imperious form as they cruised to a 6-2 lead.

The break couldn't invigorate the British team and five goals in the third quarter for Australia effectively ended the match as a contest.

Australia could afford to relax in the final quarter but with Team GB rarely threatening in attack, five goals before the conclusion of the game condemned the hosts to their second defeat of the Olympics.
