Russia win water polo gold after shootout against Spain in Baku

Russian Federation won women's water polo gold in dramatic fashion after a penalty shootout victory over Spain at the European Games.

Spain held a narrow 5-4 lead after two quarters, and led 10-8 with less than three minutes to go in the final.

However, Russia equalised with 38 seconds to go, before going on to win the shootout 7-6 after Spain's Paula Crespi Barriga saw her effort saved by Evgeniia Golovina.

Earlier in the day, Greece pipped Italy 8-7 to pick up the bronze medal.
