Team GB's Jade Jones defeats Japan's Mayu Hamada to reach semi-finals

Jones through to taekwondo semi-finals

Team GB's Jade Jones has progressed to the semi-finals of the women's -57kg taekwondo.

Like in her opening-round victory, Jones was dominant throughout the three rounds with Japan's Mayu Hamada to win the match 13-3.

The opening round was cagey, but Jones prevailed with three scoring shots to Hamada's one to take an early lead.

Jones extended her advantage in the second round, with a three-point headshot contributing to the 19-year-old extending her lead to 9-2.

The scoreline forced Hamada to attack in the final round but as she came forward, Jones scored with several shots to coast through to the semi-finals.
