British men miss out on 4x100m freestyle final

Great Britain miss out on a spot in the men's 4x100m freestyle final at the World Swimming Championship by 0.23 seconds.

Great Britain's 4x100m men's freestyle team have narrowly missed out on a place in the final at the World Swimming Championships in Kazan.

Calum Jarvis, Ben Proud, Robbie Renwick and Duncan Scott finished sixth in heat two of four, but quicker times in the later heats saw the quartet finish outside of the top eight.

The United States, who won the silver medal in 2013, missed out on a place in the final for the first time in the history of the World Championships, while Australia and Germany also failed to progress.

The British team finished 10th overall, just 0.23 seconds off China's time for the last spot in the final.

Russia set the fastest time, while defending champions France came in fourth.
