Great Britain's Duncan Scott reaches the final of the men's 100m freestyle after finishing in fourth place in the second semi-final.

Great Britain's Duncan Scott has reached the final of the men's 100m freestyle at the Olympic Games.

The 19-year-old impressed during his heat but he had to dig deep to ensure that he remained in the hunt for a medal in Rio de Janeiro.

Scott reached the halfway point in third place but he was unable to maintain his pace and eventually finished in fourth spot in the second semi-final.

It was enough to see him move through to the final as the seventh-fastest qualifier, with American Nathan Adrian topping the standings with a time of 47.83 seconds - just 0.37 seconds quicker than Scott.
