GB swimmer Jazz Carlin: 'I'm in a great position for Rio 2016 Olympics'

Great Britain's Jazz Carlin believes that she is in the "best position" for the Rio 2016 Olympics after taking 800m freestyle bronze in the World Championships.

British swimmer Jazz Carlin has claimed that her performance at the World Championships in Kazan has put her in the "best position" for the Rio 2016 Olympics.

The Welsh athlete, who missed out on London 2012 due to illness, earned a bronze medal in the 800m freestyle final in Russia earlier this month.

Last year, Carlin impressed by storming to 800m gold and 400m silver at the Commonwealth Games and European Championships respectively.

"I made a few mistakes here and there [at the World Championships] but you can learn from that and use it in the future, and I think it has put me in the best position for next year," Carlin told Sportsbeat.

"Going into Olympic season, I don't want to take anything for granted. I'm not training every day to just make a final - I'm dreaming of being on the podium at an Olympics, and it has been a dream of mine since I was a young girl."

Britain won a record nine medals in Kazan - including five golds, one silver and three bronzes.
