Proud powers into 50m freestyle final

Great Britain's Ben Proud will fight for a medal in the 50m freestyle after powering through to the final at the World Championships in Kazan today.

The 20-year-old, who won gold in this event at the Commonwealth Games last year, snatched third place with an impressive 21.88s in the second semi-final.

France's Florent Manaudou clinched top spot in 21.41s, but it is the USA's Nathan Adrian who has qualified fastest for tomorrow's final after clocking a new American record of 21.37s in the first semi-final.
