Quigley grabs 50m backstroke final spot

Great Britain's Lauren Quigley has booked a place in tomorrow's 50m backstroke final after claiming a top-eight time in the semi-finals at the World Championships in Kazan.

Quigley, who failed to medal in the 100m backstroke final on Monday, kept with the leaders in the first 25m, but she dropped back slightly to touch the wall fourth in 27.88s.

In the second semi-final, China's Fu Yuanhui took a commanding lead and will head into tomorrow's final as the fastest in the field after completing her race in 27.18s.

Britain are currently second in the medal table with five, including two golds.
