GB's Quigley eases into 50m back semis

Great Britain's Lauren Quigley has made it safely through to tonight's 50m backstroke semi-finals at the World Championships in Kazan.

The 20-year-old, who finished eighth in the final two years ago, was comfortable throughout her heat as she claimed second place in 27.94s.

In a separate heat, Emily Seebohm, who won gold in the 100m backstroke last night, pulled away from the rest of the field alongside China's Liu Xiang, but it was the Australian who edged ahead and finished first in 27.75s.

China's Fu Yuanhui finished fastest in the field with a time of 27.66s, while Quigley claimed the sixth-fastest time overall and Seebohm third quickest.
