GB's Young seventh in S8 50m freestyle

Thomas Young of Great Britain could only manage seventh in the final of the S8 50m freestyle.

Despite reacting quickly to the buzzer, Young did not have enough in the tank and his 27.71 was some 1.89s off the eventual winner.

It was to be the ninth world record in 12 races in the pool tonight as Russian Federation's Denis Tarasov powered home in 25.82.

Maurice Deelen took silver for Netherlands in 26.29 and was followed very closely by Wang Yinan of China, who touched home in 26.31.
