Ellie Simmonds sets new Paralympic record in 100m freestyle

Ellie Simmonds has set a new Paralympic record to win her women's S6 100m freestyle heat.

The 17-year-old took the lead early on and did not falter as she posted a time of 1.16.68.

China's Song Lingling came in second, while Emanuela Romano of Italy finished third.

The United States' Victoria Arlen broke the record in the next heat, equalling the world record at 1.14.74.
