Team GB clinch place in 4x200m freestyle relay final

Team GB have made it through to the final of the men's 4x200m freestyle relay final at London 2012.

Britain were seeded in a tough heat alongside China, the United States and Australia, but put in a bold performance to come in third at 7:10.70.

A big finish was needed from Robbie Renwick to fend off competition from China and Russia, but the Scot powered through to seal his team's place in the last eight.

The United States looked unstoppable, winning by almost four clear seconds despite resting big guns Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte.

France won the first heat with a 7:09.18 finish, qualifying from their group alongside Germany, South Africa and Hungary.

The men's 4x200m relay final takes place this evening.
