Robbie Renwick hails home crowd

Team GB swimmer Robbie Renwick praises the home support at London 2012.

Team GB swimmer Robbie Renwick has praised the home support at London 2012.

The British athlete booked his place in the men's 200m freestyle semi-finals earlier today with a finish time of 1:46.86, while the crowd cheered him on.

"It went pretty good, felt really smooth this morning. It was a solid heat swim, fastest I've been in the morning so I'm in good shape and hopefully get into that final tonight," the Daily Mail quotes him as saying.

"The home crowd there was fantastic cheering me on and I think that really helped me on that swim this morning.

"That's one of the advantages of having a home Olympics, it's fantastic having the home crowd there and hopefully I can step it up again tonight and get into the final. I think it will take a low 1.46 but I feel like I am capable of doing that so fingers crossed."

Renwick, who narrowly missed out on a spot in the 400m freestyle final yesterday, will compete in the 200m freestyle semis from 7:37pm this evening.
