Rebecca Adlington "not expecting anything tonight"

Great Britain's Rebecca Adlington has confessed that she is not expecting to claim a medal during this evening's 400m freestyle final.

The 23-year-old only just made the showpiece event, having finished eighth fastest during qualifying earlier today.

With that in mind, Adlington has informed supporters that her chances of success in the pool are limited.

"Just sneaked into tonight's final in 8th place! Not expecting anything tonight, all I can do is my best :-) thank you for all the support," she wrote on Twitter.

The final is due to get underway at 8.18pm.
