GB's Adam Peaty smashes world record in 50m breaststroke semi-finals

Great Britain's Adam Peaty has set a new world record in the men's 50m breaststroke semi-finals at the European Aquatics Championships in Berlin.

The 19-year-old headed into tonight's race having already set a Championship record of 26.91s in the heats.

This evening, Peaty managed to do one better by tapping the wall in 26.62s, overtaking world champion Cameron van der Burgh's time of 26.67s.

Peaty, who won two gold and a silver for England at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow last month, already has two European golds to his name in Germany.
