Team GB's Genevieve Randall: 'Synchronised swimming is changing'

Team GB synchronised swimmer Genevieve Randall has insisted that the sport's image is changing at the European Games in Baku.

The 17-year-old has qualified for the duets, team and free combination finals, and is the first reserve for the solo final on Tuesday.

Randall told reporters: "It's felt here like the image of synchronised swimming is changing. We're making sure make-up's a lot more toned down so the sport looks more to do with the athletic part.

"We go to gymnastics to get the land training. We need to have the flexibility of gymnasts. We go to the gym to help us with our stability and strength in the water so we can hold the positions.

"It feels like synchro is being accepted a lot more now and it's part of this games in a way it hasn't been in previous games."

Randall, partnered by Jodie Cowie, finished 14th in the duets at last year's European Championships.
