Michael Jamieson: 'I let my supporters down'

Michael Jamieson believes that he let his supporters down after failing to take gold in the 200m breaststroke final at the Commonwealth Games.

Scotland's Michael Jamieson has suggested that he let his supporters down due to his inability to claim gold in the 200m breaststroke at the Commonwealth Games.

Ross Murdoch produced a shock in the final to secure the title in impressive fashion, and Jamieson admitted that he found it difficult to deal with the disappointment of losing to his 20-year-old teammate.

"I really wanted to repay that faith and support of the people," the 25-year-old told BBC Sport. "It's only natural for your instant reaction to be like you felt you let people down."

"I'll take some time off and come back stronger. I have to."

Jamieson failed to reach the 100m breaststroke final after his disappointment over 200m.
