Ali Carter knocks out favourite Judd Trump

Tournament favourite Judd Trump has been knocked out of the World Championships this afternoon by Ali Carter.

World number 17 Carter looked to be heading for a defeat when Trump had a simple red to take control of the final frame with the scores level at 12-12.

However, 22-year-old Trump failed to take his opportunity, allowing Carter the chance to advance through to the quarter-finals.

He grasped the opportunity with a red and black combination to seal his passage through to the final eight.
