O'Sullivan knocked out of UK Championship

World champion Ronnie O'Sullivan has failed in his campaign to win the UK Championship title, falling at the quarter-final stage.

The 38-year-old succumbed to a 6-4 defeat to Stuart Bingham, who has claimed that his 'solid' form this season pushed him into the next round.

"Even at 4-1 up, my cue action went but I tried to keep it together," BBC Sport quotes O'Sullivan as saying. "I knew Ronnie would come back.

"When I had a chance I tried to go for it but you have to focus on your own game. I've been playing solidly all season and I'm looking forward to the semi-final."

O'Sullivan last won the tournament in 2008.
