Former champion Stephen Hendry crashes out

Stephen Hendry has been defeated in the opening round of the UK Championship.

The five-time champion went down 6-3 to Stephen Maguire at York's Barbican Centre.

The match was level at 3-3, but Maguire won the seventh frame with an impressive 134 clearance and closed the game out.

He now faces defending champion John Higgins, who edged through in a tight affair, in the last 16.
