Man found guilty of Sean Taylor murder

A 23-year-old man is convicted of second-degree murder for his part in the death of former Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor in 2007.

A 23-year-old man has been convicted of second-degree murder following the 2007 death of Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor.

Eric Rivera Jr was found guilty of shooting Taylor during a botched robbery of his home in Miami, Florida.

Rivera, who was also convicted of armed robbery, was one of five men alleged to have broken into Taylor's house planning to steal large amounts of cash, expecting the two-time Pro Bowler to be with the Redskins on an away trip to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

However, the 24-year-old was home with a knee injury at the time and was shot outside his own bedroom after confronting the intruders.

Rivera faces a life sentence for his convictions, while three of the remaining four men charged in the incident will be tried at a later date.
