Paralympian Gemma Collis suffers abuse after getting mistaken for 'I'm A Celeb' star

Paralympic wheelchair fencer Gemma Collis receives hateful tweets by people mistaking her for I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here contestant Gemma Collins.

Paralympic wheelchair fencer Gemma Collis has become the victim of Twitter abuse after accidentally getting mistaken for I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here contestant Gemma Collins.

The 20-year-old received a number of vile messages, including one which described her as a "fat cow", but the abuse was meant to be targeted at The Only Way Is Essex reality star Collins, whose name is similar to the athlete.

The 33-year-old is currently in the Australian jungle taking part in the ITV show, but criticism from viewers has been aimed at the wrong person on social media.

In response to the abuse, Collis tweeted: "Oh god, it's started already... My name is Gemma COLLIS, I'm an athlete & not @missgemcollins from #TOWIE! So PLEASE stop tweeting me abuse!

"Nobody should be subject to abuse. Bullying directed at anyone is wrong. Upsetting to find many are willing to tweet such horrible things.."

Collis, who was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome in 2008, represented Great Britain in her first international competition in 2012.
