Ennis open to 'X Factor' role

British Olympian Jessica Ennis has revealed that she would be keen to act as a mentor for contestants on The X Factor.

Recent reports had claimed that the show's creator, Simon Cowell, was keen to hire gold medallists like Ennis to help guide the acts through the competition.

Despite insisting that she was unaware of the speculation, heptathlete Ennis admitted that it is role that she would give strong consideration to.

"This is definitely news to me but it sounds like a brilliant idea. I'm a massive fan of X Factor so we'll see," she told Lorraine.

Asked if she would do it, Ennis replied: "Well yes, definitely, I think it's a great idea, yes."

Fellow Team GB gold medal winner Mo Farah is also believed to be in the running for a position within the show.
