Hery denies calling Rochdale a "dump"

Rochdale midfielder Bastien Hery has denied calling the town a "dump" in an interview with a French magazine.

According to reports, the 22-year-old also said that there was a "heap of reasons" why he didn't want to live there.

This prompted Simon Danczuk, the town's Member of Parliament, to question if Hery was "suitable" to play for the club.

However, Rochdale issued a press statement saying: "It has been claimed [Hery] labelled Rochdale as 'a dump - gloomy and grey' but a translation has shown that nowhere in the original article does Bastien make such a comment."

Hery added: "Rochdale is my first club and I love it because it has made me what I am now. I love the fans because it's a real family club - everyone is close together."

Dale are currently ninth in the League One table.
