New York Yankees baseball star 'hires out plane for himself, wife and poodle'

Yankees star hires plane for trip

Japanese baseball star Masahiro Tanaka reportedly hired an entire Boeing 787 to fly to New York with his wife and her pet poodle.

Tanaka, who plays for the New York Yankees, is believed to have paid £120,000 for the flight, which usually holds 186 passengers but only carried five people.

According to The Metro, Tanaka told reporters at Tokyo's Narita Airport: "It's a [chartered] private jet. It's not something the Yankees have prepared."

The baseball player recently agreed a seven-year contract with the Yankees.
