Lee Westwood apologises for Twitter rant

Golfer Lee Westwood has issued an apology following a rant on social networking site Twitter.

The 40-year-old Brit posted a number of angry tweets on Monday, including some aimed at footballer Joey Barton.

However, he has now said sorry for the outburst.

Westwood put himself in contention to land a first major title on the weekend at the US PGA Championship before falling down the leaderboard on Sunday's final round.
