Michael Vaughan: 'I'm more known for dancing than cricket'

Vaughan: 'I'm known for dancing, not cricket'

Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan has claimed that more people know him for competing on Strictly Come Dancing than leading the national cricket team.

The 38-year-old, who will dance the salsa in the BBC One show this weekend with professional dance partner Natalie Lowe, has claimed that more people have seen him dance than lift the Ashes in 2005.

"It's amazing that 11 million people are watching us on Strictly," The Sun quotes Vaughan as saying. "I think the most I ever got while playing cricket was eight million in 2005, during the Ashes series.

"And it is a different audience who watch Strictly, lots of mums, grannies and kids who before would not have had a clue who I was. No one talks to me about cricket any more, now I am known for dancing."

Fellow athletes Victoria Pendleton and Louis Smith also remain in the reality show.
