Sky announces Euro qualifier plans

Sky confirms that its coverage of the Euro 2016 qualifiers will begin next month on new channel Sky Sports 5.

Sky has confirmed that its coverage of the European qualifiers will begin with the first matchday on September 7.

The broadcaster has acquired the rights to show every game in the buildup to Euro 2016, except for England's matches, where it instead has the rights to broadcast highlights.

The first batch of matches on Sky's roster includes Germany vs. Scotland on June 7 and holders Spain vs. Macedonia on June 8.

Up to nine matches a night will be broadcast live, mostly on new service Sky Sports 5, with additional games accessible through the red button.

Sky's deal with UEFA spans four years and also gives Sky the rights to the World Cup qualifiers from 2016.
