Michael Schumacher "making progress" 17 months on from ski accident

The manager of seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher has revealed that the retired sportsman is "making progress" 17 months on from suffering serious head injuries in a skiing accident.

The 46-year-old hit his head on a rock while skiing off-piste in Meribel back in December 2013.

From then, the German spent several months in an induced coma before he was transferred from Grenoble to a Swiss hospital in June last year.

It wasn't until September 2014 when he returned to his home near Lake Geneva to continue his rehabilitation, but since then there have been very few updates on his health.

Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm released a statement last week claiming that the former F1 driver is "making progress", but that people "must always keep the seriousness of his injuries in mind".

Earlier this month it was reported that Schumacher's wife Corinna had begun selling off her husband's assets, including a £25m private jet and a holiday home in Norway.

It is believed that it is costing the family around £100,000 a week to care for Schumacher.
