Russell Brand tells Paul Gascoigne not to "feel sad" as he still has "greatness"

Comedian Russell Brand tells Paul Gascoigne that he still has "greatness" in him and shouldn't "feel sad" because of what the England legend has given to football.

Comedian and actor Russell Brand has told England football legend Paul Gascoigne that he should not "feel sad" because he still has plenty of "greatness".

The former Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, who has struggled with alcoholism for many years, was a guest on BT Sport's Fletch & Sav show prior to Spurs' 2-2 draw with West Ham United on Sunday.

During the show, Gascoigne told stories of his career and admitted that it was sometimes frustrating for him to watch games now because he would always think about what he could have done.

In response, Brand said: "The greatness is still in you, even if your body cannot express it through football now, the greatness, itself, is still in you. You must not feel sad, you've given the game so much. You still have so much to give, you still have a future."

Gascoigne has sought help from rehab facilities seven times in his life.
