River Plate unveil world's longest flag

River Plate have unveiled the world's longest football flag, measuring 7.8 kilometres.

The flag was unfurled by more than 50,000 fans from the site of River's former ground in the Palermo district of Buenos Aires to their current home ground, the Estadio Monumental in Nunez.

The flag is precisely 7,829.74 metres in length, and River hope to enter this in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The longest flag in the world belongs to the Rotary Club International in India, measuring 50km.
