A study shows that mobile apps are challenging other media as a source for sports news in Great Britain.

A report conducted by Eurosport.com has claimed that British people talk about sport more times each week than their European counterparts.

The study found that 72% of Brits discuss events in sport, compared to those in Russia, Germany and France, who converse about sports less than 45% of the time.

As part of their 'How to cure a Sports Addict' campaign via their mobile app, Eurosport.com also found that 34% of those surveyed said that they like to read about sporting events on the web and mobile apps, while 28% added that they would be happy to have access to additional commentary, analysis and statistics during the match.

The paywall issue is also not a barrier to fans, with 29% admitting that they were prepared to pay for online content around their favourite sport.

It was also concluded that Britons on average spend 2.8 hours a week reading about sport on mobile apps, the same amount of time spent reading about sport in newspapers.
