Premier League records £3.26bn income

The Premier League has remained the richest football league in the world after recording an income of £3.26bn for the 2013-14 financial year.

The figures, compiled by Deloitte, include the first year of the 2013-16 television rights deal, which totals £5.5bn, helping 15 of the 20 clubs in the top flight to record a profit.

According to The Guardian, the Premier League brought in more than three times as much as the second richest division, Germany's Bundesliga, over the same period of time, while the Premier League's TV income alone was £126m more than the Spanish La Liga received in total.

Deloitte also recorded an overall loss of £247m by the clubs in the Championship over the same 12-month period.
