Oscar Pistorius pleads not guilty to murder charge

Oscar Pistorius has pleaded not guilty to the charge of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, as his trial begins in South Africa.

The 27-year-old was charged with murder after shooting Steenkamp at his home in Pretoria on Valentines Day last year.

The Paralympic champion has maintained that he mistook the former model for an intruder when he fired shots through the bathroom door.

Pistorius has also pleaded not guilty to three firearms charges at the High Court in Pretoria, where the trial continues.
